Nominations for Honorary Doctorates and University Fellowships

by

Each year at the annual award ceremonies in November the University confers a number of honorary degrees and University Fellowships.  The awards are based on nominations made by staff, students and governors of the University.  All nominations are considered by the Honorary Awards Committee which then identifies a small number to take forward.

The criteria for the awards are:

Honorary Doctorate – the University is looking to recognise those who are particularly eminent in their field.  There is no restriction on the nature of the field in which the individual has excelled.  A previous or potential link with the region and/or the University is desirable but not essential.

University Fellowships – the University is looking to confer fellowships on those who have either already made an outstanding and normally voluntary contribution to the University, or whose current role provides opportunities for a particularly fruitful relationship to develop.  It is intended that Fellows should act as ambassadors for the University, helping wherever possible to raise awareness of and support for the University and its goals.  Normally such persons will already have an association with the University or local region.

How to make a Nomination

Please complete the Honorary award form and return it to me by the 22nd March 2013. If anyone wishes to discuss a nomination in advance of submitting it they should contact me in the first instance. (email: h.johnstone@worc.ac.uk, tel: 01905 855014)

It is very important that nominees should not be approach prior to consideration of nominations by the Honorary Awards Committee and should not, in any circumstances, be informed that they are under consideration

You can find information on the awards made in 2012 on the University web-site – http://www.worc.ac.uk/community/honorary-degrees-fellowships.html
